From Newcomer to Neighbour
Direct settlement support for newcomers and life navigation assistance for community members facing barriers to services.
RISE provides direct settlement support to newcomers and life navigation assistance to community members facing barriers to accessing systems and services. As a trusted local connection point, we help participants find their footing in the Alberni-Clayoquot region and navigate complex systems with confidence.
System Navigation
We help newcomers and community members understand and access healthcare, housing, public transit, and other essential services. This includes explaining how local systems work, connecting people with appropriate agencies, and providing ongoing guidance as needs evolve.
Document and Translation Assistance
We assist participants in understanding documents, forms, and correspondence they receive, and help them communicate with service providers. While we cannot provide certified translation or legal interpretation, we facilitate comprehension and help individuals prepare for official interactions.
Government and Official Referrals
When participants require official assistance — such as immigration inquiries, appeals, or constituency-level advocacy — we connect them with MP and MLA offices and other qualified resources. We help individuals understand what support is available and how to access it effectively.
Ongoing Support and Follow-Up
Settlement is not a one-time process. We maintain ongoing communication with participants through intake assessments and regular check-ins, ensuring that support keeps pace with changing needs and circumstances.
