Why Grade 12 English Matters
Every BC student needs a Language Arts 10, 11 and a required 12 to graduate, and must write the Grade 10 and Grade 12 Literacy Assessments.
Grade 12 English also counts after graduation. UVic's engineering program asks for English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 with at least 73%. VIU's nursing degree asks for at least a C+ in English 12.
Our parent's guide to BC graduation assessments has the 2026-27 dates for the literacy assessments.
